Representatives of Cincinnati Metro, Hamilton County Board of Commissioners, Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) and other stakeholders gathered at the Northside Transit Center on Earth Day 2026 to debut Metro’s new all-electric buses!
Given that roughly 30% of Cincinnati emissions come from cars, the Green Cincinnati Plan has outlined a series of steps and goals to establish Cincinnati as a national leader in sustainability and an attractive destination for businesses and individuals.
Metro is possibly the only transit system in the US that serves more riders post pandemic than before, and the two all-electric buses that debuted on Earth Day 2026 join 17 hybrid electric buses that are already on the roads, with 4 more all-electric buses expected to join the fleet by the end of this year.
The Northside Transit Center is the second most active bus transfer point in the entire Metro system, trailing only behind Government Square in the Central Business District. In 2022 the Northside Business Association received the Cincinnati Metro’s Reinventing Metro Community Partnership Award at their annual meeting for our partnership to make the Northside Transit Center a reality!
