Devastated: a writing workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to explore the creative potential of devastation; great destruction or damage, overwhelming shock and grief. In such moments, we become outside of ourselves- and as challenging as it is, there is great power in both expressing and the expression of such a stark change in perspective.
Bring with you some examples of writing from devastation that you’ve encountered in your life. Songs, poems, passages of fiction, anything. We’ll share and discuss. Then, we’ll have a guided visioning exercise, designed to kindly create a hypothetical devastation, followed by an opportunity to write. Anyone who is interested in sharing their writing for group positive feedback is welcome to do so.
There will be some extremely personal and sensitive subject matter expressed during this workshop, and all participants are expected to observe safer space practices and respect the confidentiality of the other participants.
