It’s that time again for the annual BASEMENT REGGAE: DJ ABIYAH’S BIRTHDAY EDITION! My birthday is on July 17, but I celebrate all month long! Come party with us! All my Cancerians stand up! Basement Reggae…It’s like a reggae house party in your cool grandma’s basement, complete with a small bar (full bar upstairs). DJs Abiyah and Grover alternate sets every 30 minutes to keep it fresh for the people!

This month’s punch special is the ‘Hotta Fiyah’, a watermelon rum punch with hints of jalapeno and mint. Cool and refreshing, and just a lil sweet and a lil spicy for your summertime enjoyment! Also, 24 oz. bottles of Red Stripe are only $4!

This is definitely not a sit-down affair…it’s DANCING all night long! Queen City Imperial Soundsystem lays down the reggae vinyl vibes, from the mid-70s through the mid-00s, for your dancing pleasure! There ARE a few barstools, tables and a bench in the basement if you need to take a quick break from dancing, but you can also head upstairs for a breather where there is plenty of seating in the bar and dining/music room area.

For the uninitiated, here’s a rundown on how we run tings on Basement Reggae Night: around 10:30pm, we start a little slower with some smooth riddims so you can chill and get settled in to your vibe. Around 11:00ish, we begin to pick up the pace with some of your favorite uptempo DANCEHALL classics. By midnight, we’re on full blast with the DANCEHALL vibes until we shut down at 2am.

TO GET TO THE BASEMENT, walk straight past the bar and sink on the left and you will see an open door with a Reggae Night flyer that leads to the steps that go downstairs.
