BASEMENT REGGAE: Cincinnati’s ONLY All-VINYL monthly dancehall reggae dance party! Going strong for over four years!

Every Second Saturday. Always $FREE.99. 21+. This month only, we’ll be starting at 10pm (instead of 10:30pm) and going until 2am. The Comet. 4579 Hamilton Ave. Kitchen open until 1am. Always $4 24 oz. Red Stripe bottles! Basement Reggae…it’s like a reggae house party in your cool grandma’s basement, complete with a small bar (full bar upstairs). DJs Abiyah and Grover alternate sets every 30 minutes to keep it fresh for the people!

This month we are celebrating friend of Basement Reggae and Comet regular Calvin Clark, better known to us a ‘C’, with a whole-house party at THE COMET. Basement Reggae downstairs, and a diverse range of performances upstairs. Our great friend C recently suffered a traumatic brain injury and partial paralysis as a result of a very serious ATV accident. We are here to help him and his family on his long road to full recovery!

This is definitely not a sit-down affair…it’s DANCING all night long! Queen City Imperial Soundsystem lays down the reggae vinyl vibes, from the mid-70s through the mid-00s, for your dancing pleasure! There ARE a few barstools, tables and a bench in the basement if you need to take a quick break from dancing, but you can also head upstairs for a breather where there is plenty of seating in the bar and dining/music room area.

For the uninitiated, here’s a rundown on how we run tings on Basement Reggae Night: around 10pm (this month only, all other months 10:30pm), we start a little slower with some smooth riddims so you can chill and get settled in to your vibe. Around 11:00ish, we begin to pick up the pace with some of your favorite uptempo DANCEHALL classics. By midnight, we’re on full blast with the DANCEHALL vibes until we shut down at 2am.

TO GET TO THE BASEMENT, walk straight past the bar and sink on the left and you will see an open door with a Reggae Night flyer that leads to the steps that go downstairs.
