Basement Reggae Dance Party – 5-Year Anniversary!

Bam Bam! It’s Queen City Imperial Soundsystem’s 5-YEAR ANNIVERSARY this month! It’s also our last one of 2017, as we take our annual DECEMBER BREAK, so it will be even more of a PARTY! We’ll also be starting a half-hour earlier, at 10pm, for FOUR FULL HOURS OF REGGAE MUSIC for your dancing pleasure!

One of the special things we have planned is a reggae record giveaway, FIVE to be exact, courtesy of our good friends at Everybody’s Records! After 11pm or so, we’ll be giving away one sealed reggae compilation on vinyl approximately every 30 minutes. Stay tuned for more details on how you can snag one! One per winner. Our amazing bartender Corinne will be out of town this evening, but she will be making her legendary Peach Power Punch, a peach bourbon punch with a champagne topper, as our themed cocktail of the month! There to serve it to you with a smile will be the equally stellar Ross, one of our rad Basement Reggae bartender alumni! We’ll also have in stock our usual big ol’ 24 oz. Red Stripe bottles for $4!

Get a burrito, a drink and dance the night way with us…and Barrington, Cutty, Shabba, Yellowman, Dennis Brown, Sister Carol, Anthony B, Papa San, Tony Rebel, Sizzla, Tanya Stephens, and more of your favorite classic reggae and dancehall dance tunes!

This is definitely not a sit-down affair…it’s DANCING all night long! Queen City Imperial Soundsystem (DJ Grover and Abiyah) lays down the reggae vinyl vibes, from the mid-70s through the late 90s, for your dancing pleasure! There ARE a few barstools, tables and a bench in the basement if you need to take a quick break from dancing, but you can also head upstairs for a breather where there is plenty of seating in the bar and dining/music room area.

For the uninitiated, here’s a rundown on how we run tings on Basement Reggae Night: around 10:30pm, we start a little slower with some smooth riddims so you can chill and get settled in to your vibe. Around 11:00ish, we begin to pick up the pace with some of your favorite uptempo DANCEHALL classics. By midnight, we’re on full blast with the DANCEHALL vibes until we shut down at 2am.
