DESCRIPTION:You’ve heard people say to you\, “You are enough\,” “Stop trying to please everyone!\,” “Just love yourself\,” “Be you.” And you are really trying to do these things\, to start pleasing your SELF. \nBut\, old habits can die hard. They are etched into our neural pathways. Habits are familiar\, like a well-worn security blanket. Yet\, you know it’s time: you are ready to change some habits and beliefs and honor your SELF much more. \nAllow yourself to receive assistance by attending this workshop with trained Advanced LIIFT Practitioner Doris Schnetzer. \nIn this workshop\, we: safely release heavy emotions (guilt\, fear\, shame\, anger\, sadness\, loneliness) so that you can feel lighter. Also\, using muscle-testing\, Doris identifies unhelpful beliefs that attendees hold and guides individuals through simple processes to quickly change these beliefs for the better. So\, we safely and consciously “install” beliefs such as\, “I am welcome in the world\,” “I get all the positive\, nurturing love I need and want\,” “I attract positive energy\, and I repel toxic energy\,” “I am at peace” (instead of “I am anxious”)\, “I take good care of myself\, so that I have the strength to give good to others.” “I know how to have a happy life\, and I do have a happy life\,” and “I am lovable just as I am.”  \nAfter LIIFT sessions\, people report the following: better relationships and peace with family members; no longer attracting dangerous people; less emotional baggage; more openness to positive relationships; greater peace of mind; ability to pursue and enjoy a new hobby; greater self-love and self-care. \nUnhelpful\, subconscious beliefs can be passed down from ancestors; originate in one or more past lives; come from our childhood; or be a result of experiences as an adult. \nFee is $20 cash or check. SUMMARY:Our Library: Our Decision - A Conversation on Public Space
DESCRIPTION:The Library Board of Trustees – a group of bankers\, lawyers\, business executives with ties to real estate developers –  made the decision to close and potentially sell off the North building of our public library’s Main Branch. The result would be the loss of a scare public resource: free\, enclosed public space. The decision regarding the fate of our public institution was made with little to no public input. We demand the public have a voice in these decisions. \nCome join in a conversation about the value of public space. Whether through new social resources or expanded library services\, how could this building better serve the public? Come bring your ideas\, your experiences\, your passion. The Board has spoken only to finding a “highest and best use” for the site\, using a real estate term about maximizing profitability. As a creative community\, we can find a “highest and best use” that puts people over profits. Together we can create a vision for a public future for the North building.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, October 6th at 6:00 pm and meet the artist\, Ali Hansen. Several of her artworks will be on display. Light refreshment will be served. We hope to see you! \nA note from Ali Hansen: \n“Shadows snapped from leafless branches onto the snow. The Stranger in a hooded cloak shuddered against the wind…”  \nI moved to Michigan eleven years ago\, and discovered a wonderland of real and imaginary characters in my own backyard.  Ali-ce in Winterland is the garden’s story from the first fallen leaf in August to the first snowfall in December.  \nThe work in this show was completed in the last two years. I have enjoyed reconnecting with printmaking and love working with fabric and collage.  I completed this work at the Kalamazoo Book Arts Center where I have learned to set type and print on the letterset press.   \nI would like to thank Cynthia and Larry\, and the rest of the team at Future Life Now for the opportunity to share my story with you.  \nAli Hansen \nAli’s Bio \nAfter thirty years in Cincinnati\, Ali Hansen moved to southwest Michigan to “retire” and enjoy sunsets on Lake Michigan\, pursue her artwork\, and as a surprise\, begin writing stories. DESCRIPTION:The crosswalk of Pullan and Langland has been a safety issue for our students for awhile. I am organizing a flagmaking party so that students and families will have a flag to wave while they are crossing the street to and from school. Waving flags can make our small children more visible to oncoming traffic\, and its fun! Technically there is no crosswalk at this intersection\, so its even more important that we make our presence known. I have the contaniners and dowel rods\, donated by our one and Only Hoop and Needle. If anyone has fabric\, markers\, ducttape\, etc that they would like to use\, please bring them!
