DESCRIPTION:Ladyfest Cincinnati 2017 presents Friday the 13th at THE COMET\nFeaturing:  \nMarjorie Lee\, frontperson for The Lovers is an honest\, expressive singer songwriter with powerhouse vocals and catchy as heck choruses.\nhttps://marjorieandthelovers.bandcamp.com/album/the-lovers \nCrystal Gravy is a love-struck duet from DeKalb\, Illinois\, made up of lifelong musicians\, Dave Green and Nikki Rice. They use strong vocal harmonies\, along with guitars\, piano\, and keytar\, to construct original songs with biting lyrics and catchy melodies. They like to describe their genre of music as “anthemic duetism.” \nDave and Nikki joined forces in love and song in 2014\, after many years of following and admiring the others’ various musical projects. On their first date\, they wrote and recorded their first song (“One Round”)\, which was later released on their 2015 debut E.P.\, “Night Dinner.” In 2016\, they released their first full-length album\, “Helicopter to Bang Mansion.” Their music is available to stream or download at CrystalGravy.bandcamp.com. \nhttps://crystalgravy.bandcamp.com \nKate Wakefield A classically trained opera singer lost her mind\, and went off the tracks to create a solo project like you’ve never seen before. Based out of Cincinnati\, Wakefield has taken her local scene by storm playing city wide events such as “Best of Cincinnati” and “Best new bands” during her first year performing live. The two met during a lunar eclipse on the island of Martha’s Vineyard and soon began crafting mythological mini-worlds into home-recorded albums\, music videos\, short films\, and photo stories.  \nHoly Golden’s music blends euphoric dream-pop with lo-fi garage rock to create songs that feel both vulnerable and mysterious. They’ve been likened to The Cranberries\, Cocteau Twins\, and Dolly Parton backed by the Jesus and Mary Chain. Their creative process is a labyrinthian breadcrumb trail fueled by their deepest sorrows and brightest fantasies\, which ultimately leads them towards their imaginative kingdom of sound. They released two full-length albums\, several music videos\, and a new EP to widespread critical acclaim. DESCRIPTION:Chase Public is happy to welcome poet Partridge Boswell\, visiting from Vermont\, for a reading alongside local writers Amelia Ferguson and Roberta Shultz. \nPartridge Boswell – Recipient of this year’s Edna St. Vincent Millay Poetry Prize for his poem “Flying home after the protest\,” Partridge Boswell is the author of Some Far Country\, winner of the Grolier Poetry Prize. His poems have recently surfaced in The Gettysburg Review\, Salmagundi\, The American Poetry Review\, Green Mountains Review\, Forklift\, Ohio and Hayden’s Ferry Review. Co-founder of Bookstock literary festival and the poetry/music group Los Lorcas Trio\, he teaches at Burlington Writers Workshop and lives with his family in Vermont. \nAmelia Ferguson – was born in Portland\, OR and has since resided in various parts of Oregon\, Utah\, Texas\, Cincinnati\, New York and Kentucky. She currently resides at 1107 Vine Street in an odd apartment with two bathrooms. Amelia considers herself an artist with serious commitment issues who graduated from Art Academy of Cincinnati in 2015 with a BFA in Sculpture and Creative Writing\, and will begin pursuing a Creative Writing MFA at Bennington College’s Low Residency Seminar. Her work appears sporadically as sculpture\, installation\, electrocution\, performance\, word-working\, nonsense and merrymaking. She is not left handed\, but does have a god-complex. \nRoberta Schultz – is a singer songwriter\, teacher and poet originally from Grant’s Lick\, KY. Her poems and song lyrics have appeared in Still: the Journal\, Motif\, Waypoints\, Kudzu\,The Notebook and other anthologies.
