Join us at Second Place in Northside (Cincy Blues’ home pub) to watch our Spurs and City battle for three points and help us give back to those in need. All donations will benefit the Freestore Foodbank. \nMost needed food items:\n-Canned meat products (tuna\, chicken\, ham\, spaghetti with meatballs\, chili with meat & beans\, beef stew\, etc.)\n-Peanut butter\n-Canned vegetables and fruits\n-Other non-perishables such as canned soups and macaroni and cheese\n-Baby formula \nAlso bring any gently used winter jackets\, coats\, scarves\, hats\, and gloves. \nThe group with the most items donated gets bragging rights\, and the losing group has to change their social media profile pic to the other’s logo for a week.  \nBob will even buy a round for the 3 people with the most items donated. \nSo dig in your closets for winter clothes you’re not using\, hit up Aldi and grab some canned goods\, and make your way to Second Place this Saturday!

DESCRIPTION:Contemplative Mornings:\nJoin us for a morning happening to explore the intersection of contemplative practice and entrepreneurship. Come and connect with other individuals in the community who are starting and running organizations/businesses and who are open to the impact of contemplative practices on that work. Explore the clearness that comes when we approach our work with intention\, humor\, discipline\, and community.\nZen teaching often describes the contemplative practice as the life of eating from the rice bowl and our job or work-life as the life of raising the water buffalo or oxen. This event (and subsequent entrepreneurs cohort) is an invitation into a middle way\, in which the work of entrepreneurship\, itself\, is reinterpreted as a form of living contemplative practice.\nExpect equal parts reflection\, guided meditation\, and peer-to-peer discussion peppered with a dose of “how to not take ourselves so seriously\,” and “admitting that the future isn’t entirely up to us.” In other words\, join us for a big hug for folks who are just a bit tired.\nFrom 8:30-10:30\, with coffee and light breakfast available at 8am.\nFree Members Tickets\n$20 Earlybird Tickets\nFacilitated by Troy Bronsink and co-hosted by Megan Trischler\nTroy\, an author-dad-consultant\, and founder of the Hive\, often finds himself straddling the two worlds of spiritual-poetic-presence and fearful-reactive-overwhelmedness. Basically\, he needs this work as much as (if not more than) anybody else.\nMegan\, a designer-wife-wanna-be-baker\, and director at People’s Liberty\, is learning (very slowly) what it means to live life at human scale. She spends a great deal of time wondering how to bring her whole self (mind\, body\, spirit) into her professional practice and how that might impact her ability to lead well. On December 9th\, come to Higher Gravity to participate in our Bend for Brews event with Yoga ah Studio. Class will be an intro class so don’t stress if you haven’t done yoga before. \n$12 gets you a class with Amber from Yoga ah\, followed by a refreshing pint of beer (or tea\, cold brew coffee\, lemonade). We’ll also have some small breakfast items available after the class. We ask that you register and pay the class fee prior to the event. Kimball is a Cincinnati poet whose work has been published or is forthcoming in Rattle\, Hobart\, Sundog Lit\, Bone Parade\, The Sow’s Ear Poetry Review\, Kaaterskill Basin Literary Journal\, Califragile\, and elsewhere. She is a member of both Cincinnati DIY Writers and the Ohio Poetry Association\, volunteers as a reader for E&GJ Press\, and hosts the Inkwell Reading Series & Open Mic every second Monday at Urban Artifact. She works as a freelance writer and at an auction house. Monster House Press published his collection Things Just Aren’t They in 2015. Payne was a contributor to the catalogue for Framing Beauty: Intimate Visions (Indiana University Press\, 2017). Payne teaches Art Theory and Criticism at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus\, Ohio.  \nWendy Lee Spacek​ ​has​ ​published​ ​one​ ​book​ ​of​ ​poetry\, PSYCHOGYNECOLOGY​ ​(Monster​ ​House​ ​Press\,​ ​2015).​ ​She​ ​is in​ ​the​ ​MFA​ ​program​ ​at​ ​Indiana​ ​University​ ​in​ ​Bloomington\,​ ​IN.
