Come “get lost” in sounds with Toon Town and our very special guests: \nThe Perfect Children – The Perfect Children are the romp and stomp; the fresh wound of broken love; laughing in spite of pain. They are a girl with something to say and a boy to help deliver the message\, cathartic but engaging. Their energy is infectious\, the notes ring out\, and the space between is an emotional exhalation- personal but vague. They live at the intersection of Holly Golightly \,Dex Romweber\, Nina Simone\, Al Green\, and Otis Redding. They play from the gut\, heart\, and soul and are rough\, raw\, and real. They will guilt trip you into getting outta your seats\, their dirty showcase further punctuated by 2 backing vocalists who aid in lifting the stage off the floor and blowing the doors off the joint. To quote Little Richard\,they will curl up under your big toe. \nThe band’s sonic stew of gospel\, garage\, blues\, rock\, and even punk has created a buzz that’s leaving jaws open\, rumps shakin’ and feet stompin’. With singer/songwriter Kristen Kreft (Pearlene/J. Dorsey Blues Revival) at the helm\, the dynamic duo of Beth Harris (The Hiders/Pearlene) and Nicole Potter Borngrebe on backing vox\, and the rhythm section inertia of drummer Adam Shelton (RX2/Kallip) and bass player Nic Powers (Static Falls/The Sweep)\, the vocal velocity of this frenetic force will etch an impression that will last. We are starting a new tradition and every Friday we’ll be tapping a keg of beer that is a rarity to see around these parts. We’ll be tapping the keg at 4PM each Friday and pouring the delicious libation until it’s gone.  \nWe know when you drink beer you get hungry. That’s why we’ll also have our friends Django Western Taco slinging tacos and chips w/ Guacamole or Salsa every Friday evening from 6-10 PM (or until they run out). We’ll be talking to Josh each week to let him know what we’ll be tapping and he’s going to create a taco that pairs well with the beer. \nBeer and tacos\,what more could you really ask for in life.

Kampfer Revolutionary Literature Archive \nOpening reception Friday February 16th\, 6-10pm\nArtist Dinner Saturday February 17th\, 7pm**\nFebruary 16—March 25\, 2018 \nAnytime Dept. is proud to present How are you going to bring down the state when you’re the one propping it up? an exhibition of work by Terence Hammonds\, presented alongside a selection of historical ephemera from the personal collection of Brad Duncan\, known as the R.F. Kampfer Revolutionary Literature Archive. This exhibition  is an articulation of the relationship between art and activism.  \nTerence Hammonds’ work explores the significance of materials of radical social justice movements throughout US history. With a background in printmaking\, Hammonds takes a multidisciplinary approach to his interpretation and re-presentation of source material\, lovingly and transparently reviving the language of political radicalism and utopian idealism. For this exhibition\, Hammonds focuses on the narrative of affiliation and commitment as told through pins and buttons produced by movements ranging from civil rights\, feminism\, labor\, black power and gender equality.  \nWhile Hammonds’ work gives us an image of a movement\, Duncan’s selection of radical ephemera supplies access to the history of grass-roots image as message; a time before the aesthetics of the left had been translated into a pop cultural style. Duncan protects\, preserves and honors these movements and their material histories\, giving insight to issues still pertinent today. \nBrad Duncan has been collecting printed materials related to the radical Left and liberation movements for over twenty years. He is the co-editor\, with Interference Archive\, of the new book Finally Got the News: The Printed Legacy of the U.S. Radical Left\, 1970-1979 (Common Notions\, 2017)\, which is based largely on materials from his collection. He is a union library worker and lives in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania. \nTerence Hammonds is a Cincinnati\, OH based artist who uses the platform of printmaking to express ideas about politics and race in a variety of media. By screen-printing figures from 1960- 70’s’s civil disobedience/ social justice movements on ceramics and creating drawings of movement buttons and protest signs\, Hammonds monumentalizes heirlooms of cultural transgression. Hammonds received his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston\, and Tufts University. \n**Dear Friends\, \nWe would be so pleased to have you join us for a special dinner produced with us (Anytime Dept.)\, chef Jared Miller\, and artist Terence Hammonds (Cincinnati\, OH) in honor of the opening his exhibition\, How are you going to bring down the state when you’re the one propping it up? Terence’s works will be presented alongside a selection of historical ephemera from the personal collection of Brad Duncan\, known as the R.F. Kampfer Radical Literary Archive. This exhibition investigates the mutual relationship between art and activism.  \nDinner will be held at the Hoffner Lodge on the second floor\, just above the gallery space on Saturday February 17th at 7PM. \nDinner will be a call and response between Terence Hammonds and chef Jared Miller as they share ideas about history\, presence and community. \nFor every exhibition\, we at Anytime Dept. host a dinner\, working collaboratively and thematically with the artists as a gesture of friendship and community.  We see this as an opportunity to extend the art practice outside of the limitations of the gallery\, and an opportunity to engage other senses and forms of relating to one another and to exhibitions. \nThe meals are family style and casual\, and we sincerely hope to be able to sit down with you and share a meal\, a few drinks\, and introduce you to the incredible artists we are working with. The musicians are characters who prepare for conflict in an aggressive new wave of traditional metal sound mixed with folk and power metal spirit. They bring a large-scale rock show complete with storytelling\, humor\, costume\, debauchery\, and catchy melodies that welcome the most staunch metalheads as well as those who may not have even realized they like metal \nWho are the Lords of the Trident?
