SUMMARY:John the Revelator/Honey Combs w/ Combo Slice/MayaLou and a Uke
DESCRIPTION:John the Revelator is the solo project of Jake Garrett. Jake is more known for his blues rock trio MasonJar Menagerie and his newly founded record label\, DeepRoots Family Records and Productions. Along with MasonJar\, Jake plays with 6 other bands regularly. Many of which\, he writes the music for. Jake has been writing songs for over a decade\, compiling 100’s of songs. John the Revelator acts an outlet for these numerous songs that he isn’t using with other projects. \nThe name John the Revelator derives from an old Blind Willie Johnson song. This is also where Jake draws a lot of inspiration from. Jake does a brilliant job at mixing all of his inspirations and sounding like something completely unique. Using a variety of instruments and his rare vocal styling\, John the Revelator dares to do what many artists won’t attempt. John the Revelator is raw and electric. \nJake displays many of his musical talents in John the Revelator. Simultaneously playing guitar along with a bass drum\, snare\, and high hat. On top of all that\, he manages to bust out some mind-melting lyrics. This act is unique\, exposing\, and riveting. \nMayalou \nKevin Milner \n/// Honey Combs & Combo Slice /// \nFREE\nALL AGES

SUMMARY:Yoga for Trauma Resolution: Mining the Shadows with Confidence
DESCRIPTION:We all experience trauma. Often our bodies can assimilate and alchemize our life experiences. However\, when our experiences are intense\, and our body’s physical systems lack the strength to do this fully\, we back-log these unprocessed experiences in the actual tissues of our body. This is generally known as our personal “trauma”\, and it can (and does) alter our physical\, psychological\, intellectual\, and emotional expression of self in the broader world. Join us as we explore the ways in which trauma impacts our bodies and our life and learn yoga practices that will us integrate all of our life experience. \n This 6-week workshop will investigate the: \nNeurophysiology of trauma\nEmotional regulation and resiliency\nDissociation and trauma processing\nHow trauma is held in the body and how to re-develop an integral relationship with the body post-traumatic experience\n6 weeks of yoga practices to help us digest and assimilate ALL of the experiences of our life. \nFacilitated by Anne Minter.

SUMMARY:Creating Space Within: Yin Yoga and Breath Work
DESCRIPTION:Do you feel depleted\, overwhelmed\, exhausted? Do you crave stillness\, but can’t quite seem to make the time or space? \nIn this class\, we’ll explore the theme and dialogue of creating space for stillness\, calm\, contemplation and release\, while we utilize the intelligent system of yin yoga and breathwork. Also known as pranayama\, the breathwork and yin yoga will help imprint a sense of stillness not only physically\, but mentally and emotionally. \nWe’ll slow down\, rest\, and yield to the five minute holds in restorative yoga postures – on the ground. We’ll retrain our central nervous system to utilize our body’s breath to the fullest\, through repetitive conscious breathing techniques\, so that we may always feel fully oxygenated and refreshed. We’ll learn how to apply the breathing patterns in everyday situations so we can create that sense of spaciousness even when we’re running from one meeting to the next. \nYin Yoga is a gentle\, passive form of yoga that helps us release deep connective tissue within the body\, especially around the hips and spine. \nThis class is a great opportunity for the students from Detox to Freedom to continue and advance their practice. It is also accessible to all levels experience – no previous experience required! \nThis six week class is facilitated by Alex Ryberg.

SUMMARY:Contemplative Community Leadership
DESCRIPTION:We at the Hive want our community’s activists to stay around for a long time. Nonprofit leaders and community organizers who make it the long haul do so through finding their own contemplative roots and skillfully equipping those in the community to do the same. The structure for belonging and transforming is not technique. Its art. And its art that takes soul. Deepen your own art and soul with a 6 week small group facilitated by one of Cincinnati’s veteran organizers. Contemplative leaders know how to step back\, to observe themselves and others\, to discern needs and motivations\, and to cocreate a shared outcome. \nWhether you’re a consultant\, organizer\, clergy\, municipal\, or nonprofit leader you could have a lot to contribute and learn in this course. \nThis six week class is facilitated by Jeff Stec
